Tips for the Best Chicken Stuffing Casserole

Use leftover chicken or turkey from thanksgiving dinner or other meals. It’s a great way to stretch proteins and save time.

Keep diced leftover chicken or turkey frozen in 3-4 cup portions. It makes throwing together hearty casseroles like this quick and easy. Perfect for busy homesteads or when you’re juggling chores and kids.

Homestead-Friendly Variations

One of the best things about this chicken stuffing casserole is how versatile it is, especially for homemakers who like to use what they have on hand.

  • Add frozen mixed vegetables to make a complete meal in one dish. Think chicken pot pie flavors.
  • This easy family dinner can also be made with pork chops or reimagined as a chicken pot pie.
  • For a richer, creamier sauce, stir in a spoonful of Greek yogurt or extra sour cream.
  • Stuffing Variations. Swap the boxed Stove Top stuffing mix with a homemade bread stuffing or cornbread crumble for a truly scratch-made casserole. This is a great way to use stale bread from the pantry. Add herbs like sage, thyme, or parsley from your garden for fresh flavor.
  • Vegetable Add-Ins. To make a complete meal in one dish, stir in fresh or frozen vegetables, green beans, or fresh garden produce like zucchini, carrots, or peas. This is an easy way to turn your casserole into a balanced, nourishing dinner for the whole family.
